Donald Roger Safford, 73, of Carrollton, died peacefully on July 17th after a long illness. Born to Don F. and Elizabeth Safford on Sept. 19, 1950, in Borger, Texas, he grew up in Stinnett in the Texas Panhandle and attended coll Read Obituary
Recently, I was thinking back to my time working at Saia. So naturally, I thought of Don Safford. I worked for him from 1993-2001. I was young and inexperienced, and Don took me under his wing. He was like a father figure and was my biggest advocate. He was a wonderful man who loved his family dearly. He spoke of them often. Condolences to his family and friends.
He was a mentor of mine back in 1998 at Saia Motor Freight. All these years later and something told me to look him up.
He lives on in the house of the lord.

I had the pleasure of working with Don for about three years before his retirement from SEFL. I'll always remember how proud he was of his granddaughter and her achievements in martial arts. Don eagerly shared every new karate video he had.
Don was one of the greatest individuals I had the pleasure of working for and alongside.
