Mrs Cooper was a dear friend to everyone at Northway Baptist Church. I will never forget her beautiful smile. Every year in December we hosted a dinner to honor the original Northway widows . Steve Hardin was our pastor when this event began and our new church name was The Village Church at Northway. At one of those dinners Mrs Cooper did not arrive for the meal. As I was walking all the widows to the worship center I saw her walking into Fellowship Hall. We paused. When she reached us she told me she was sorry she was late. She fell asleep in her recliner. She said she was already dressed so when she woke up she immediately came to church. She asked if I still had a dinner for her. I told her “yes” and it was boxed up for me to take to her after our service. We laughed. Then she spoke these words to us; “the dinner is wonderful each year and I thank you for that. However the main event is not the meal but being recognized in worship center as one of the original Northway Baptist Church widows and the best part of evening was having an elder kneel in front of her and pray for her. You are with our Lord and Savior rejoicing with your husband and all of your sweet sisters.
