Dorothy Herrmann's Obituary
After a short battle with cancer, Dorothy “Dottie” Herrmann passed from this life on February 19th, 2015 in Lubbock, TX. She was a beloved daughter, wife, mother, Oma, and friend to many. Dottie was born to Arthur and Edith Mae Anderson on December 17th, 1935 in Wilmington, Delaware. She married Carl Herrmann on September 2nd, 1955 and had a daughter, Cynthia. After moving from Monroe, Louisiana to Garland, Texas, she worked at Collins Radio/Rockwell International for many years until her retirement and enjoyed traveling with family and friends. Dottie was an active member of Messiah Lutheran Church where she especially loved teaching ESL classes. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Carl Herrmann; and her son-in-law, Ken Porter. Those left to cherish her memory are her daughter, Cynthia Porter; granddaughters, Hillary Garbowski (and husband Ryan) and Hannah Porter, all of Lubbock, Texas; her loving extended family; and numerous friends. Dorothy’s family will receive friends from 6:00-8:00 pm on Sunday, February 22, 2015 at Restland Funeral Home. Service for Dorothy will take place at 11:00 am on Monday, February 23, 2015 at the Messiah Lutheran Church in Plano, Texas. Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to Restland Funeral Home and Memorial Park, 13005 Greenville Avenue, Dallas, TX 75243. The family suggests memorials given to Messiah Lutheran Church – ESL Ministry, 1801 W Plano Parkway, Plano, TX 75075.
