Goodbye Uncle Duane, I will always remember you and my dad horsing around at Grandmother Godfrey's house before she met Roy. Your sweet smile and generous laugh, and the stories you would share – I can't remember the stories any more, but I can see you telling them. You loved to tell a good story. And how you loved to tease us and your lovely wife, Beverly! Thank you for coming to my mother's funeral. I had the wonderful pleasure of meeting Mr.Godfrey in 1981 when I met Cheryl in Dental Hygiene School, I became re-acquainted with he and his beautiful wife at a holiday gathering shortly after losing my mother, With his endearing smile and infectious laugh time stood still and I immediately felt included and loved in his family. The daughter I know and love today is a strong, courageous and independent woman because of the role model example set by her father. The world is a sadder place without him but oh what a gain for heaven. We love and miss you Mr.Godfrey but will see you someday at heaven's gate. Lisa Attaway

Thank you Uncle Duane for being a great uncle. One of my fondest memories of you was when you would come down to San Antonio for work and we would go out for dinner. We would talk and laugh the entire night. I always had a wonderful time. I always wished we could do it more often. Thank you for looking out for us after our father died. You will be missed. For me, Uncle Duane represented a man of God, Family and Love. He was the kindest person I have known. He always had a smile on his face and a kind word. Thinking of him reminds me of all our family gatherings in Grandmothers house and backyard, making homemade ice cream, going to church and holiday meals as a family, and, especially his backyard 4th of July Fireworks every year!! He enjoyed life. I thank him for being there for us when my father passed away. He and Aunt Bev would call me each year to sing Happy Birthday to me. I wish I had told I'm how much that meant to me! Words cannot describe how deeply sorry I am to hear about your husband. I feel so blessed to have been able to watch the love he shared with you, Cheryl and his grandchildren. It warmed my heart to hear him talk about his family and to see the smile on his face. One of my favorite things I love about spending time with the Lewis family is to hear the girls talk about family dinners and going to your lake house. My condolences to Beverly, Duane Jr. and Cheryl. Duane will be missed by all of us here at Southwest Securities. I write this with fond memories of Duane. Duane was my client and I was his Invesment Advisor. I (and we in the office) spoke with Duane almost daily regarding his investments and the markets in general. Investing was quite a hobby for Duane and he spent a lot of diligent hours researching companies. He was quite savvy and always did his best using his experience and discernment as he crafted ideas to make money in the financial markets. In a lot of ways, he kept me sharper and always gave me something to look forward to every day. Most of the time, it started with, "that's Duane on line two"…well you can probably imagine our conversations. Some were short and some were quite lengthy, but he was passionate about investing. That passion for investing made him quite good at it. Again, Duane was very special to me and everyone here at SWS. He will be greatly missed! Gene Dickey

Bev and Family: So sorry to hear about Duane. As soon as I told Pat we started thinking back to the early days. The Trip we took to the lake pulling the boat behind the 1960 Falcon. This got you and Duane the boat bug and you bought the Yellow Jacket. Duane hired me to take his place as the cost accountant at PK. Who would have thought I would have stayed there 50 years.
