Mr. Duane Ralph Godfrey Sr.'s Obituary
Duane Ralph Godfrey Sr. Born May 15, 1930 in Overland Park, Kansas passed away after a brief illness July 25, 2015. Duane married his high school sweetheart on March 17, 1951. He served in the United States Air Force which took them to Hawaii for the next four years where their son Duane was born. He was also a crew member of Air Force One of the Pacific. Duane worked as a salesman for Percy Kent Bag Company for 44 years. His job relocated the family from Overland Park, Kansas to Richardson, Texas in January 1974. Duane was a long time member of Canyon Creek Presbyterian Church where he saw his daughter Cheryl married and both of his grandaughter’s Jordan and Ryanne baptized. He loved traveling which included many camping trips when his children were younger to Colorado. Many memories were made when MeMe & Papa owned a lake house at Cedar Creek Lake. After retiring Duane and his wife traveled to Europe and took a cruise to Alaska and Greece. On their 50th Anniversary the whole family went on a Caribbean cruise. His numerous hobbies throughout his life included collecting coins, extensive collection of matchbox cars, golf, avid tennis player, watching and trading in the stock market,and he loved watching all college and pro sports. Duane was a dedicated and loving husband, father and grandfather who loved his family unconditionally. Duane leaves his wife Beverly of 64 years, son Duane Jr. daughter Cheryl and her husband Hal, grandaughter Jordan Watson and husband Mat, grandaughter Ryanne Moczygemba and husband Ryan. We would like to thank the third floor nurses at Richardson Methodist Hospital who so compassionate and caring during his hospitalization. Service will be held Saturday, August 1, 2015 at 2:00PM at Canyon Creek Presbyterian Church, Richardson, Texas. Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to Restland Funeral Home and Memorial Park, 13005 Greenville Avenue, Dallas, TX 75243. In lieu of flowers the family requests donations made in the memory of Duane Godfrey to Canyon Creek Presbyterian Church.
