Dear Villanueva Family,
In advance of seeing you this weekend I felt it best that I relay my sentiments to you in a note rather than attempt to verbally espouse to each of you my feelings about your husband, your father, your grandfather, your great grandfather, your Tio, your friend …..
I greatly admired Pop.
When I first meet Pop I recall thinking to myself how lucky I am to sit at the table with this man. I thought to myself “they don’t make’em like this anymore” !
It was an honor to be in his home.
Pop was a prideful man who so generously shared many stories of his very many, many good works.
Pop could be both humble as well as boastful as he told his stories with a shine of great pride in his hard work accomplishments as he built his business and his family.
His family, all of you.
Pop & Angie ‘made’ all of you and in turn you all made them look like
El Rey y La Reina de la Alegría!!
Never have I ever experienced the company of bigger, warmer, more welcoming smiles as I have witnessed within The Villanueva family.
I occasionally had the opportunity to watch Eduardo Villanueva sit back and survey your smiles, your laughter, your warmth & generosity ….I saw his pride, his “Angie, look what we did !” sense of accomplishments.
Rest In Peace while we continue to take in & benefit from ‘ what you did’ Pop !
Respect,
David
