Penny graduated from Stamford High School in Stamford, Texas where she spent her younger years. She then attained her B.A. from Baylor University. After graduation she taught High School English for one year before moving to Dallas where she was employed by Chance Vaught Aircraft in the Engineering Department. After five years there, her adventurous spirit led her to drive alone to Los Angeles, California where she secured employment in the Engineering Department of Northrup. She began her long career in the California Aerospace field. She met and married Charles S. Davis in California where she remained throughout her married life and career. She loved the beach and had a view of the ocean from her home in Rancho Palos Verdes, California. She retired in 1994 after serving as Engineering Manager of Publications at Air Research in Los Angeles. Upon her retirement the memento presented her by the Management at Air Research, Los Angeles wrote of her warmth, caring, and professionalism and said "a part of the soul of the Company leaves with you". Penny left her loving, caring mark where ever she was. Her smile lit the room.
After the death of her husband of 40 years in 1994, Penny moved back to Texas to join her family. She spent her last 25 years embraced in the arms of her Texas family, enjoying activities and occasions with them. She was always included and loved.
She was wonderful, caring, wise and fun Aunt Penny to them all and best friend to her sister. They shared many good times. They were all truly blessed to have had her in their lives. All who knew her felt her genuine caring spirit and she will be greatly missed.
In lieu of flowers, memorial gifts can be made to The Museum of the West Texas Frontier in Stamford, Texas.
