Mrs. Fitch was like a second mom growing up, and I am grateful for her influence and care. She was kind, consistent, firm - and incredibly patient. My best childhood memories are those with the 'Fitch Girls' - Stacey, Susan, Leslie and Amy - and Mrs. Fitch was always nearby…not hovering…but just close enough so that you knew you had to stay in line! She was amazingly patient with us - a bunch of Bee-Gee’s crazed adolescents and teenagers with lots of spunk, creativity and energy!
I remember her 'surprise' Coke floats on a hot summer day; her letting us stay up and watch SNL - even though we didn't really quite get the humor just yet; and her encouragement (and patience!) as we performed multiple dance routines for her and my mom on Christmas Day (year after year!). Mom also loved her dearly and cherished their friendship through the years.
It is beautiful to see the pictures of Mrs. Fitch with her girls and their families as they have grown over the years - so much fun and love there. It is obvious that her steady love, influence and care have had a great impact across the generations - What a legacy and treasure!
She will be greatly missed, and forever in our hearts.
With love,
Laurea (Dunahoe) Irving
