Eileen Fitch's Obituary
Eileen Moran Fitch, a beloved mother and grandmother, passed away on December 25, 2024, at the age of 93. Born December 11, 1931, in Hartford, Connecticut, Eileen embodied kindness, selflessness and generosity throughout her life. She left behind a profound legacy that will be cherished by all who knew her.
Born to Leslie and Mildred Moran, Eileen was always the shiest of their three daughters, however, she matured into a strong, independent woman. Her sharp mind and exceptional skills with numbers guided her to a degree in mathematics and a career in accounting and finance, where she excelled in her role. In 1954, Eileen married her husband, Frank Fitch in a double wedding with her twin sister, Elinor. Together they raised four daughters until Frank’s death in 1974. Eileen did an exceptional job making many sacrifices while raising her girls on her own after his passing.
Eileen had a love for the Catholic faith and was a parishioner of All Saints Catholic Church. She attended Catholic schools in her youth and as a grandmother enjoyed attending activities and volunteering to serve lunches at All Saints School for 13 years. She was an active member of the Golden Saints, a group for retired women, finding joy and companionship within that community. Her commitment to family extended beyond the immediate. She claimed her greatest joy in life was caring for her grandchildren throughout their childhood.
Eileen’s hobbies included knitting, a craft in which her attention to detail resulted in beautiful creations that warmed the hearts of her family and friends. She had a strong love for the beach where some of her fondest memories were made. She also had a passion for music and enjoyed taking ballroom dance lessons as an adult. Her love language was gift giving and she found immense joy in showering her loved ones with presents, especially at Christmas which was her favorite holiday.
She was preceded in death by her husband Frank, as well as her sisters Clare and Elinor. She leaves behind a loving family, including her four daughters, Amy, Leslie, Susan, and Stacey and sons-in-law Charlie, Richard, Henry, and Steve. Eileen was also a proud grandmother to Andrew and Megan, Katy and Cameron, Ryan, Kelly, Kimberly, and Thomas, as well as a great-grandmother to Freyja and Charlee.
As we celebrate the life of Eileen Moran Fitch, we remember her as a loving mother, devoted grandmother, and a friend to many. Her legacy will forever resonate in the hearts of those she touched. May she rest in peace, knowing the profound impact she made in this world.
The family will hold a visitation and rosary on January 5, 2025, at 5:00 PM at Restland Funeral Home, where friends and family are invited to join in honoring Eileen's life. A funeral Mass will be held January 6, 2025 at 10:30 AM at All Saints Catholic Church.
