When I think of Elaine I'm saddened that the world she lived in is darker today, but when I remember her ever present radiant smile I'm gladdened to have known her. Her favorite sport was baseball. Well, life threw her a couple of curve balls. She buried a son and she buried a grandson, events that should never be laid on the shoulders of any parent, yet Elaine was burdened with both of them. It's been said that what doesn't kill us makes us stronger. I believe those events helped give Elaine the grace and dignity to remain positive and active until her 95th birthday and the strength to fight during the months after. And while she's no longer among us she'll always be with us. Steve Lawrence
One of my favorite Aunt Elaine stories is that as a young woman she played semi-pro softball for the Jax Beer team in Houston for a couple of years. She was an avid bowler for many of her adult years and quite proud of her skills on the lanes. She was my mother's younger sister and was always there for her family, her nieces and her nephews. She will truly be missed. Ron Oberholtzep
