Eleanor Ruth McMillan's Obituary
In loving memory of Eleanor Ruth McMillan:
Eleanor passed away unexpectedly on November 3, 2023, in Dallas, TX. She will forever be remembered as a loving daughter, wife, mother, grandmother, relative, and special friend. Eleanor was born on March 30, 1942, to Carrie Sue Lewis Wright and Edward Wright, who preceded her in death as did her sister, Suzanne.
Eleanor leaves behind to cherish her memory, her husband Don, her son David and his wife Brook, and two treasured granddaughters, Ella and Avery, along with many dear friends and relatives.
A lifelong Dallasite, Eleanor graduated from Sunset High School and Stephen F. Austin University. She maintained close friendships over the years with classmates from both schools and visited with them on many vacations, outings, and dinners over the years.
Eleanor taught school in DISD at Edna Rowe and retired from Urban Park Elementary in 2004. She often met with former colleagues known as the Munch Brunch.
Eleanor will be fondly remembered for always being immaculately dressed with full make-up on, wearing fine jewelry, and with every hair in place. Her home was always beautifully decorated especially for the holidays. She liked to garden and neighbors enjoyed her endeavors. She loved shopping for herself and others. She most cherished finding gifts and surprises for Ella and Avery and delighted in spending time with them and keeping up with their activities and adventures. These were her happiest times.
Eleanor and Don married on December 17, 1966, and shared a close and loving relationship for 57 years. David was their only child and she was so proud of his and Brook’s accomplishments and the exceptional parents they had become. She and Don traveled extensively on outings and to her happy places each year - Fredericksburg, New Braunfels, Santa Fe, and Galveston. Family trips to Florida were a highlight of her life. She liked to go to Canton Trade Days each month and was always able to find a treasure there.
Eleanor’s memory will be forever cherished by all who shared her life and loved her.
