Elizabeth Joyce Kirkland's Obituary
Elizabeth Joyce Kirkland, born Elizabeth Joyce Shaw in Dubuque, Iowa to Belvia Inez and Kenneth Brewer November 28, 1927. Joyce knew the love of a large and wonderful extended family in Cooper, Texas and then graduated high school in Irving, Texas. She married (Jack) WW Box, and had three sons, Ronald Box, Steve Box, and Gary Box. She was a devoted wife and mother with many supportive roles. Professionally an LVN, she showed her love and devotion to help heal and nurture many patients and families. A genuine lover of people and encourager to all. She will attest that a huge part of her was the Priceless Personality Club, a Christian positive life group of women. She made life-long friends. Other involvements and joys are The Red Hatters and her widow widowers group on AOL. In 1970, Joyce remarried Capt. Charles M. Kirkland who adored and loved her in a way she had never known and enabled her generous and loving spirit. Joyce loved to bring joy to all she encountered. She was an eternal optimist and a servant of God. A devoted mother and wife who cherished each relationship in her life, especially her grandchildren and greatgrands. She was preceded in death by her husband, Charles M. Kirkland; mother, Belvia Inez Skeen; father, Kenneth Shaw; and two sisters, Daisy Wright and Shirley Harris. She is survived by three loving sons and their families, Ron Box and Jeannie of Valdasta, TX, Steve Box and Pat of Vero Beach, FL, and Gary Box and Sandi of Plano, TX; and devoted cousin, Jimmy Story of Irving, TX. She is also survived by her extended Brewer family of Cooper, TX and loving family nationwide. Visitation will be from 3 to 5PM on Sunday, December 19, 2010 at Restland Funeral Home. Service will be at 3PM on Monday, December 20, 2010 at Restland Wildwood Chapel. Her affirmation of faith from Joshua 24:15 about making choices of matter: “Choose for yourselves this day whom you will serve….but for me and my house, we will serve the Lord.” Hebrews 10:7 Then said I, Lo, I come (in the volume of the book it is written of me,) to do they will, O God.
