Emma Jeanne Robertson's Obituary
Emma Jeanne (LaFon) Robertson was born to John Marceline LaFon and Katherine Elizabeth Balsano LaFon on November 13, 1921 in Denison, Texas. She graduated Denison High School in 1938 and married her late husband, Lester H. Robertson in 1940.A loving and devoted wife, she blessed her husband with three children and moved several times throughout the state in support of his career in law enforcement as a Texas Ranger. Emma readily made friends in each new community and worked diligently both in the home and professionally to help support and care for her family. After moving to Gainesville, Texas in 1948, she worked at the Gainesville School for Girls from 1948 until 1953. Then after moving to Austin in 1953, she worked administratively for a number of years in the Texas Legislature and then later at Gardner House in Austin as a court secretary. The family later returned to north Texas and settled in Garland in 1959 where she worked for the 3M Company until her retirement in the mid 1980s.Fun and quick witted, Emma made many friends over her life and blessed all that came to know her. An accomplished pianist from childhood until she was physically unable to play, she frequently entertained family and friends around the piano. She enjoyed daytime dramas through her retirement years and was a prolific bridge player into her early 90’s.She and Lester regularly attended Second Baptist Church of Garland as long as they were able.Emma was called back to the Lord on October 13, 2017 one month shy of her 96th birthday.Preceded in death by her mother and father, her husband, and her elder son, Jimmy Robertson, she is survived, by her sister, Kathleen Buinicky of Dallas, her daughter, Peggy Snow of Austin, son and daughter in-love, Gary and Pam Robertson of Quinlan, as well as numerous grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces, nephews, and friends throughout the country.The family will receive friends on Thursday, October 19, 2017, from 10-10:45a.m. at Restland Funeral Home followed by graveside service at 11:00a.m. in the Woodland Garden at Restland Memorial Park.Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to Restland Funeral Home and Memorial Park, 13005 Greenville Avenue, Dallas, TX 75243.
