MY CONDOLENCES TO THE FAMILY. A GREAT GUY AND CARING PEDIATRICIAN. ALWAYS A SMILE AND WARM HELLO--BARRY
Jamie: I'm truly sorry that your dad has left us. I'm well aware that many people only saw your father as a strict vice principal -- but I was very grateful for how kind he could be when he knew you were going through hard times. When my mom was very sick during high school and I had to live p/t with my grandmother, teachers were a bit slow figuring out why I didn't always have the right books with me, etc. Anyhow -- at that time before personal computers, your dad spoke very kindly to me...and then wrote out a handwritten note to *each teacher -- asking them to be more lenient with me as I was living between two places....He couldn't have been any kinder... // About 12 years ago, I had the pleasure of having coffee with him....He was a very fine man!// Glad you have some good memories...I remember you told me online about a great time you had with your dad when you went fishing with him toward the end of his life!! All Blessings to you! Beth Smith
This man made a very lasting impression on me when I was a teacher at Cannon elementary in Grapevine. He really listened to teacher concerns and his advice was always spot on. My sincere condolences to his family. Your Husband and Father was something special. May he now Rest in Peace. May God's angels guide him to eternal Peace.
My husband Jerry and I were teachers at HPHS. We both agreed that out of all the principals we served with (I had 10-12 myself), Dr. Sigler was by far the best. He was strict but fair. And especially, ethical. We all knew about the dreaded note that could be in anyone's mailbox that read, "See me at your earliest convenience." In that conference, Dr. Sigler addressed the issue directly and that was it. No further repercussions.
Dr. Sigler also had a personable side. Although he didn't smoke, he would go down to the smoking room in the basement of the school and visit with the teachers. One time he participated in an elaborate practical joke--Jerry's idea--on Cecil Holmes.
Dr. Sigler, you were a remarkable person and a rare administrator. We are blessed to have had the opportunity to know you and work with you.
No better coach and man to organize and lead a bunch of know it all 17-18 year olds. We were his first varsity team at HP in 1962. We thought we were laying the foundation for his coaching career, but in reality, he was laying ours for life. Great memories. He could outshoot any of us! A giant hero in anything he did. Huge loss for all of us but what a blessing to have had him in our lives. The Kingdom got a real good one when he showed up there. May his memory be eternal. Grateful to you Coach.

Mr. Sigler, as I knew him, was my chemistry teacher at Highland Park in 1967. He was an absolute all-time favorite teacher of mine. He was an excellent teacher, and because I loved him I wanted to impress him and worked hard, and as a result, chemistry and I got along fine. I was one who would sort of play around in class, and it was like he understood and knew just how to handle me. He even made it seem like he enjoyed me. It’s surprising how hearing of his death tugs at my heart all these years later. But that’s how strong his impression was on me. What a wonderful man! This goes to show you the power of a teacher in the life of a student.
Dr. Sigler was my principal at HPHS. He had a calmness about him as he walked the halls and you always knew he cared. He was a good friend to my dad, Tom Munroe. Dr. Sigler was also married to the best piano teacher I ever had! Love to his family, Lynda and Scott Soape
A wonderful colleague of my father, Thomas D. Munroe, for many years at Highland Park schools. My love to my birthday twin, Scot, my first piano teacher, Sylvan, and the whole Sigler family.
