We were so sorry to hear the news of Ernest's passing. Please know our prayers and thoughts are with you and the kids – I'm sure its difficult, but hang in there. I've thought about Ernie a lot everyday since Thursday when I learned the news. I thought about our last conversation after Christmas when he was about to head out to a doctor appt. No words can sufficiently convey my thoughts on what a "good man" Ernest was and will always be to me. Mary, the kids, Steve, Nancy and I have all shared thoughts and stories over the last 5 days. Mary and I celebrated our anniversary on Saturday (I was out of town on business on 2/16)… we had a tearful toast to Ernie (again). Looking forward, we want to ensure the kids are left a legacy of their dad, your husband and our friend… Perhaps that should include some classic stories of Ernie's "exploits": 1) Me meeting Ernie for the fist time at a street corner in Sydney, Australia – I'll never forget seeing him walking down the sidewalk with his cowboy hat on, thumbs in his pockets, elbows out… no introduction necessary. lol We hit it off instantly over a couple beers and got to work on business 2) Three weeks later, Mary, the kids and I headed home to the USA for a home leave trip of 3-4 weeks – Ernest house sat – we had connected that well, that quickly 3) His trip with Skippy (our dog) up to the cabin… and him telling the story of Skippy getting sick in Frank's car and ET's head hanging out the window as he drove 30 more miles… 4) Living with us for months while he got his feet on the ground here in Atlanta – he became a member of our family 5) Going to a Brave's game and Ernest clearing out the stands around us (after eating his chili dog)… another lol 6)Us quitting smoking together on a New Year's bet while working at HIE, only to mutually agree to cancel the bet while having a beer 2 months later – we promptly left the bar, bought a pack of cigs, and proceeded to finish the pack together back at the bar… a classic Ernie moment 7) Being in your wedding and the laughs we had while there 8) A dinner with Ernie, Mary and I in Sydney at Mere' Katherine's… our favorite French restaurant there, and an evening where he learned to love Pachebel's Cannon… yes, Ernie would listen to and enjoy classical music ?? 9) Many other stupid, silly things that guys like us tend to do… many we would not admit to for fear of not being a man… lol, once again Suffice to say that Ernest will always be a friend that holds a special place inside of me. He was kind, warm, polite and funny…. he did not complain and was consistently a man of principle – likely enhanced from his days as a Marine. We respected each other for both our strengths and weaknesses. I start having some regret about not being a better friend or staying more in touch over recent years, but then I think that Ernest understood and likely had similar thoughts… it wouldn't matter that much as we knew that whenever we met the next time, we would always pick up where we left off without missing a beat. I will miss Ernest and his frank disposition, his company, his friendship… I will never forget him. I will continue to toast him and his gentle nature. Please accept our deepest sympathies and know that Ernie is in our thoughts. God bless Ernest, you and the entire Turner family! The Robson's – Brian, Mary, Meghan, Patrick and Danny
