Ernest “Ernie” Keith Pendergrass, age 70, of Mesquite, Texas, passed away on Thursday, August 21, 2025, at Faith Presbyterian Hospice in Dallas, with his beloved family by his side. Ernie was born on April 11, 1955, in Dallas, to Read Obituary
I had the pleasure of working with Ernie at UT Southwestern Medical Center. In addition to him fixing whatever was broken, I knew I could count on Ernie for a good conversation and a great story! I will miss him. Rest in peace, Ernie, and I pray for God’s comfort for his family and many friends.

One could count on Ernie's BIG personality and sensible take on situations. He could be loud, opinionated and spot on with a humorous take on things and we drew comfort in him speaking up for the group! Ernie's BIGness will be missed by us!
We are so sorry for the passing of Ernie. A favorite memory was when he was spending the night at our house and he heard a rooster crowing and told his Uncle Rich that he thought he heard an elephant outside. We will miss him and keep you all in our prayers
Ernie was my guardian angel when I found myself moving into an apartment after 24 years of marriage. He was my handy man, security guard, but more than anything he was my friend for the 6 years I lived there. Even though I moved away awhile back we still kept in touch and shared a laugh every now and then. Ernie and Chris will always be two very special people in my life. God bless!
From Diane Killian: As a young boy, he spent the night with our family during a visit to Oklahoma. I remember him waking up my dad long before the sun came up hollering about "THE ELEPHANTS IN THE BACKYARD." MY dad, his Uncle Rich was soon laughing so hard he probably had tears in his in eyes (a common thing when Ernie was around!), because what Ernie heard was our neighbors' roosters crowing. More than likely we teased Ernie about being a BIG City boy & not knowing the difference between roosters & elephants!
What a joy he was & I know I speak for all of our family when I say we can't wait for our Big Reunion where there will be so much joy & laughter! Get the jokes ready, Ern, we will see u soon!
