Essia Vell Morgan's Obituary
Essia Vell Morgan was born on January 14, 1921, in Dallas, Texas. Essia Vell went home to be with the Lord on Thursday, August 30, 2018. She was the only beloved child of the late Travis and Frankie Wallace. She graduated from Booker T. Washington Technical High School, where she excelled in her studies.Essia Vell joined the church at an early age. One of her favorite things to do was teach Sunday School to young people. She also enjoyed Bible Study as a teacher and as a student. She was a member of Bible Study Fellowship that traveled between homes. Essia Vell felt you couldn’t get enough of the Word of God.Essia Vell later married Wallace Morgan, who preceded her in death. Essia Vell had a 25-year career at Texas Instruments. After she retired, she decided she needed more to do, so she began to work for the Richardson School District as an aide for the disabled students that rode the bus. She was very politically active and served as a Poll Worker, including serving as a volunteer for former President Barack Obama’s 2008 Campaign making phone calls to potential voters.Essia Vell served on numerous committees at Hamilton Park United Methodist church and traveled as a delegate to many conventions. She also traveled around the state of Texas to assist in forming committees at other churches. As a longtime member of Hamilton Park UMC, Essia Vell was a very active member of the Lay Witness Program, Communion Board and the Church Treasury Committee.Essia Vell and Wallace had three (3) children, Bettye Ann, Travis (Bernice) and Paul (Patricia). They also have eight (8) grandchildren: Tony, Stephanie, Paula, Marcus, Brett, Latonia (preceded her in death), Tiffany and Brian. And, from their three (3) children, eight (8) grandchildren, they have a total of 19 great-grandchildren.Later in life, Essia Vell met three (3) very special young ladies that became like daughters to her. During her time of illness, Denise Callaway, Brenda Hart, and Cindy Horton were invaluable to “Mother Morgan”, as they so affectionally called her. Along with family, Essia Vell will be missed by a host of relatives and friends, too many to mention.The family will receive guest on Thursday, September 6, 2018, from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM at Restland Funeral Home. A funeral service to celebrate Essia Vell’s life will be held on Friday. September 7, 2018, at 2 PM at Hamilton Park United Methodist Church located at 11881 Schroeder Rd, Dallas, TX 75243.Funeral arrangements for Ms. Essia Vell Morgan have been faithfully entrusted to Restland Funeral Home and Cemetery, which is located at 13005 Greenville Ave., at the intersection of Restland Road, Dallas, Texas 75243, and can be reached at (972) 238-7111.
