Look at this picture. Bright eyes. A small smile. That's what I want to remember. Not the last few years, especially the last two, when the devastating effects of Alzheimer's brought the onset of dementia. What I thought were silly adventures were really the missed signs of her mental decline. Looking back I see how the loss of my dad and her grieving, mostly alone, would progress the horrible conditions Alzheimer's renders.
I want to personally thank our caregiver, Tammy Busby. Jan and I could never have managed without her dedication to mom, and us. Rarely do we meet people with such huge hearts though I believe there are many caregivers in our world. I was lucky to get the best one.
So now Eva Jean can rest. We are grateful to all of you who have reached out to express condolences and offered help.
