Eva J. Whitmore's Obituary
‘EVE’, Born January 23, 1918 in Wichita KS and passed away on May 30, 2008. A resident of Dallas since 1948, Eve was preceded in death by her husband, Ross Whitmore in 1994. She was a longtime member of Highland Park Presbyterian Church of Dallas and The Dallas Camera Club. After graduating from Friends University in Wichita, Eve enlisted in the Waves and served in Bremerton, WA during World War II, where, as a gunnery officer met her future husband Ross. They were married on November 16, 1946. As a homemaker for years in Dallas, life was scout leader, cupcake maker, PTA president and all of the numerous activities associated with a dedicated mother and wife. Eve was an avid Dallas Cowboys fan holding season tickets during the Cotton Bowl days. Her lifelong friends remember her wonderful spirit and kind-hearted attitude. She loved crossword puzzles, bridge and heated political discussions. She loved her family and friends. Eve is survived by her daughter Susan Abreu and husband John of Quitman, TX. She is also survived by nephews Loren Staplin of Allentown, PA, Denis Jacques of Corte Madera, CA, John Maure of Coleman, TX, Jim Jacques of Stilwell, KS, nieces Linda West and Sharon Smith and sister-in-law Rozanne Jacques of Wichita, KS. A celebration of Eve Whitmore’s life will be held at 3:30 pm, Monday, June 9, 2008, at Restland’s Wildwood chapel. Memorials in lieu of flowers may be made in her memory to Friends University, 2100 W. University St. Wichita, KS or Highland Park Presbyterian Church, 3821 University Blvd., Dallas TX 75205.
