To Joan, Rick and Bob — I am SO sorry for your loss! Your Mom was SO special … and constantly amazed me! Her grace, her serenity, her unflappability (as we all grew up together), her humor and intelligence, her vitality — it was such a privilege to grow up as her next door neighbor! Her (and your dad's) multi-decade friendship with my folks was just a great witness to what Love Thy Neighbor truly means! I give great thanksgiving that she is, now, Home with our Lord and Savior — and with your dad! May she rest in peace! Dear Spletters, Ahh, the memories! I'm so sorry to hear about Lynn's passing. I will tell Mom (Eunice) tomorrow. She is at Edgemere. I doubt that she will be able to attend the services. She will be sorry to hear the news, but will have so many lovely, and fun, memories of your parents. What great times they all had! The neighborhood has changed so much now, but it's still a very special place. The Stoffer's house is now being rebuilt, and ours will be probably be soon to follow. I think of you all often as i look across the alleyway. I hope you are all well, and wish you the best through this difficult time. Lynn, and your dad, brought so much enjoyment to so many. I had the privilege of knowing not only Lynn, but, her husband, Chuck, and am sad to learn of her passing. She was the sweetest, kindest, intelligent, and beautiful person that I knew. She and Chuck were wonderful people and, as a couple, you just could not find better people. I know Lynn was extremely generous with her time and a "go-getter" with her trips and golf, and she will be sincerely missed. One of my first memories of Lynn was when she and I went shopping for china for her son Bob and our wedding. I was like a kid in a candy store and having a difficult time deciding. She gave me my first lesson in purchasing teacups. She said you needed to be able to get your index finger through the handle and you looked for a smaller circumference……..one to big around would cause your tea to cool to quickly. I've never forgotten that and always check that when I purchase a teacup for my collection. She was an incredible mother-in-law. She gave me the guidance I needed to be a good one to. Will miss you sweet thing, love, Paula.

Spletter family: I was saddened to read of Lynn's passing, and I hope that you had found a comfortable place for her living and care in recent months–I know that had been a bit of a problem, at least until recently. It was interesting to read that she was still "walking and carrying the bag" even into her 90's–that can't be said about very many people! I welcome the opportunity to attend her services on Saturday, and to personally extend my greetings and sympathies to the family. John Harris (a Spletter golf buddy from WAY back!)

2 years in a row (age 12 and 13) my Grandma and I went on Elderhostel trips. 1st was to Washington DC, where we toured many monuments and got to do a walk through on a Naval ship and see the change of the guards at the tomb of the Unknown Soldiers. The 2nd trip was to Utah at Utah state university where we climbed through Fantasy Canyon, hiked trails, saw dinosaurs and roughed it through rapids. Grandma was 80(ish) at that time! Incredible that she could keep up with the best of us. She was one tough lady when it came to traveling. One of the most memorable parts of the Utah trip was after we finished hiking, the group made me an upside-down pineapple cake in an outside grill for my 13th birthday! There are many many special memories I have of my grandma and I will cherish every one of them.

Because distance separated us we didn't see each other often but we always enjoyed our phone conversations. Your Mother had such a sweet voice & was always so caring. Lynn was one of the best people I ever knew. We volunteered together every Monday morning for about 20 years at Medical City, and she was always there with her cheery smile and helping attitude. She listened to my problems and always made me feel better. She was a great friend, a lovely person and someone I will always admire! My prayers go out to her family and friends. Bob and family…this is really Bill Hall's story about your Mother…but since he is not here, I would like to share because it is one he never forgot: As you know, Bill was a "dedicated" golfer and weather rarely if ever kept him and his group off the course. Well…one bitter bitter cold day, he decided it was even too cold for him to play. So…while visiting in the pro shop Bill looked out and saw your Mother walking up with her clubs, ear muffs and stocking cap on. He said he opened the door and asked if she was really going to play. Bill said her answer was, "I have already played 18 with Bob." His answer to her was, "You have to be joking!" Her answer was, "No…it is Bob's birthday!" Bill said not only he, but the whole pro shop had even more deep admiration for Lynn Spletter! Hope all the grandchildren enjoy this story about their wonderful grandmother…the golfer!
