His disease started with mild symptoms, but progressed until he was unable to walk in his latter years. The disease is one of 40 disorders researched by the Muscular Dystrophy Association, and for which it provides patient services. In the summers, off from teaching, Wayne broadened his knowledge through extensive travels. He visited virtually every state in the Union, traveled in Mexico and Canada, and toured Western Europe, Eastern Europe and Scandinavia. During retirement, Wayne served on the Board of the Meadow Creek Village Residents’s Association, Garland, Texas. He was first elected to the Board in May of 1996, and was re-elected annually, and served as Board President each year until July 2016, when health issues prevented further participation. Death occurred on August 24, 2016 Wayne was pre-deceased by an infant brother, Eldon Wesley Robnett, Jr., by his parents, and by a step-mother, Oleta Knowles Robnett. After cremation, and a grave-side service, his ashes will be placed in a pedestal at Restland Memorial Park. Wayne was a long-time member of the LAKESIDE BAPTIST CHURCH, Dallas, Texas. As a Christian, he knew “To be absent from the body is to present with the LORD.” (2 Corinthian 5:8) Memorials may be made to the Fenton Wayne Robnett Endowed Scholarship at either the University of Texas at Arlington, Texas or at the University of North Texas Foundation, Denton, Texas.
