2014, Jim and I moved n w/Frances. I wasn’t too sure because I really didn’t know Frances that well. It was very late when we arrived w/the last of our belongings and I was carrying a big pot of Jim’s homemade chili. I tripped as I was walking n the front door and the pot of chili went everywhere as I hit the floor. All over the carpet and furniture. I was horrified. What an impression I was going to make on my mother n law. Immediately I got hot water, soap, scrub brush and paper towels. I was scrubbing and cleaning w/all my heart. Crying also and hysterically laughing. I was so scared. Jim said don’t worry about we will call a carpet cleaner tomorrow. But I didn’t want her to wake up to the horrible mess I had made in her living room. When I woke the next day Frances was already up drinking her coffee and watching the morning news. I hurried into the living room and started apologizing for the mess, she was so calm and said don’t worry about it. That was Frances….so loving and so kind.
Frances and I became very close and she would share multiple life stores with Jim and I while living with her. My favorite was the story of how her and Bob had met and her travels on the train while he was in the military and the different rooming houses that she stayed in.
Frances was my running around buddy and she would tell me how she enjoyed shopping with me because I was never in a big hurry, so she could take her time and see so many new items on the store shelves.
Frances looked forward to turning 100. When we were at her heart doctor’s office she told him when she turned a 100 she wanted to jump out of a plane like President Bush Sr. did. The doctor said, Frances you have a strong heart but I am not signing off on that. She just laughed. Frances was an awesome Mother n Law and I couldn’t have asked God for a better one. I am going to miss her, but I know I am going to see her again when I get to heaven. She even told me she would meet me at the door w/Jesus.
