Frankye Lloyd McHan Obituary
Frankye Lloyd McHan, 97, of Dallas, TX, went Home to be with the Lord on Saturday, October 5, 2024. She was born on March 18, 1927, in Blanket, TX, to the late Garner and Esther Lloyd. She married Charles S. McHan on August 2, 1947, in Brownwood, TX and were married for 55 years until Charles passed away in 2002. She accepted Jesus as her Savior as a young girl and worshipped and served the Lord her entire life. A graduate of Blanket High School, Frankye went to business school where she learned shorthand and to type at lightning speed. She worked many years for the Dr. Pepper Company in Dallas, TX, served as a church secretary at Northlake Baptist Church, Dallas, and was a business owner of the Northlake Beauty Salon, employing 17 hair stylists.
Frankye was a natural leader. She was an active member and leader in every church she attended. She served as a Girl’s Auxiliary leader, Women’s Missionary Union President, Sunday School teacher, and choir president for many years. She was also her daughter’s Camp Fire Girls leader.
Her favorite things were singing in the church choir, the Dallas Cowboys (a season ticket owner for many years), working the daily crossword puzzle, playing dominos or card games with friends, and traveling, especially New England and Branson, MO.
She served her family well. Over the course of her life, she hosted 14 different family members and/or friend in her home for extended stays. She was a loving and devoted wife, grandmother, and great grandmother. She played an active part in and impacted their lives, going to sports activities, dance recitals, choir concerts, supporting them in all they did. But most importantly, she always prayed for her family members. She has left a legacy of prayer for us to continue praying for each other.
In addition to her parents, Frankye was preceded in death by her sister, Olene Powell, and her brother, Jerry Lloyd. Her memories will be cherished by her daughter, Kim Wilkes of Plano, TX, and her husband, Gene; her grandchildren, Storey Wilkes Cook (Graham) of Waco TX, Summer Wilkes Duffie (Ryan) of Richardson, TX; her great grandchildren, Cambell and Grayer Cook, Kate, Cole, and Reese Duffie.
The celebration of God’s gift of Frankye’s life will be on Saturday, October 19, at 1:00 p.m. at One Church (formerly Northlake Baptist Church, 11010 McCree Road, Dallas, TX 75238) The family is asking people who attend the memorial service to wear any shade of blue, her favorite color, to honor her.
Burial will be at Restland Funeral Home Cemetery, Richardson, TX for her immediate and extended family members at 10:00 a.m. on October 19 prior to the celebration of life at One Church at 1:00 p.m.
