Fred Turner Callaway's Obituary
It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Fred Turner Callaway, 79, who died Wednesday, October 4, 2017, at Texas Health Hospital in Dallas after many years batting heart failure.He leaves his wife of 44 years, Joan Callaway, his daughter, Karen CallawayHarmon and spouse Austin Harmon, with two grandchildren, Megan Harmon and Alex Harmon.He was preceded in death by his parents, Kenneth and Orvilla Callaway, and sister, Kay Falgout. He was born in Fowler, Indiana and moved to Brownsville in South Texas.He attended Pan American College in Edinburg, Texas. He then moved north to the Dallas area and began working for the Texas Department of Transportation. After a short while in Dallas, he met his longtime love, Joan. After two years of marriage, they welcomed their only daughter, Karen.He worked for the Texas Department of Transportation until his retirement. His greatest work accomplishment was working alongside the engineers on the Central Expressway Expansion. A plaque was placed with his name for his efforts on the Mockingbird Bridge over I75. Shortly after retirement, Fred’s greatest treasures arrived, his two grandchildren, Megan and Alex. To this day they fondly remember playing board games with Papa at his house.A private funeral service will be held on Monday, October 9th at Restland Funeral Home Dallas, Wildwood Chapel on Greenville Ave.
