Fred Gilliland's Obituary
passed away on December 27, 2008 in Waxahachie, TX. His family owned the Gilliland Oil Company in Texas, Oklahoma, and Louisiana. The family moved to Dallas after losing the company to the oil price crunch of the 1920’s. The family developed a successful laundry and dry cleaning business in Dallas and Highland Park until they closed operations in the 1990’s. Fred went out on his own and formed Preston Road Cleaners in the University Park area until he merged back with the family operations in the 1980’s. Fred also owned a successful real estate investment and property management business that spanned over forty years. He was preceded in death by his first wife Mary Roberson Gilliland, daughter Patricia Ann McKamy, grandson Robert Lee McKamy. Fred is survived by his wife of 23 years Lorene Gilliland, grandchildren Harold McKamy and wife Nancy, Mary Ann Rogers and husband Terry, Fred T. McKamy and wife Sheila, Sherry Sibley and husband Pat, Garry Covington; 9 great grandchildren; 3 great great grandchildren; nieces Brooksie Roberts, Kathi Gilliland, Jean Elliott; nephew Burton Patterson. Visitation will be held on Monday, December 29, 2008 at 6:00-8:00 p.m. in Restland Funeral Home. Service will be held on Tuesday, December 30, 2008 at 10:00 a.m. in Restland Wildwood Chapel. The minister officiating the service will be the Reverend Gary Page.
