Gayle Ewing Hatton's Obituary
In Loving Memory of Gayle Ewing Hatton 1949 – 2025
Gayle Ewing Hatton, 76, of Carrollton, Texas, passed away peacefully on October 18, 2025 after fighting a short but courageous battle with cancer. Born in Houston, Texas, Gayle grew up in the Dallas area, where she built a life filled with love, laughter, and deep connections to family and friends.
Gayle dedicated more than 30 years of her career to Halliburton, where she began as a legal secretary and rose to become an Export Control Administrator. Her intelligence, work ethic, and leadership were instrumental in establishing a department that now employs over 100 people and has an international presence. Gayle’s colleagues admired her professionalism and drive, but it was her kindness and sense of humor that made her unforgettable.
Outside of work, Gayle’s greatest joy came from her family. She cherished her children and grandchildren, and she maintained a lifelong closeness with her brothers and sister. She loved spending time at the lake house, tracing her family history on https://Ancestry.com, listening to audiobooks, and indulging in queso and ice cream. Christmas was her favorite time of year, and she could often be found watching The West Wing—again and again—with a smile.
Gayle was preceded in death by her parents, William C. Ewing and Tommye Gracey Ewing. She is survived by her daughter, Julie Hatton Hagood, and her wife, Jennifer Roberts; her son, Michael Wayne Hatton, and his wife, Keari Hatton; her beloved grandchildren, Tobin Hagood, Bennett Hagood, Ian Hatton, and Ellee Hatton; and her siblings, Patric Ewing, Sue Best, and Michael Ewing.
A celebration of Gayle’s life will be held on Saturday, November 8th at 10:30 a.m. in the Wildwood Chapel at Restland Funeral Home in Dallas, Texas. A small gathering will follow at Restland’s event center.
Gayle’s life was one of love, laughter, and quiet strength. She will be remembered for her devotion to family, her endless curiosity, and her generous heart.
