Gayle C. Tinsley's Obituary
Tinsley, Gayle C. Devoted husband, beloved father, grandfather, great-grandfather and trusted friend to everyone passed away into the glorious presence of the Lord on June 26, 2010. Gayle was born on October 21, 1930 in Mount Vernon, Texas and was preceded in death by his parents, Euca Beatrice and George Culpepper Tinsley, brothers, Ray and Johnny and grandson, Jase Tinsley. Gayle graduated from Mount Vernon High School in 1947 and received both his B.S. and Master’s Degrees from East Texas State University. He served in the U.S. Army during the Korean conflict. He had a long career of senior management responsibilities at various corporations, including IBM, Xerox, Docutel/Olivetti, Recognition Equipment, VMX, Rushmore Financial Group, C. W. Dalcan Management Services and multiple start-up companies specializing in computer, office products and telecommunications. He also served as a member of the Board of Directors of Terra Nova Financial Group, Inc. Among his most prominent achievements was the development of the Automated Teller Machine now widely used around the world as an indispensable standard in the banking industry. He recently retired as General Manger of GVA Cawley Properties. Gayle’s life was centered around his family and friends, his church responsibilities and his business endeavors and achievements. He served as Deacon at Prestonwood Baptist Church for many years and as a spiritual counselor and leader to many. He was respected, admired and loved by everyone he touched. He leaves a noble pattern for his family, friends and associates to follow. His life was a testimony to his Christian faith and he lived every aspect of his life in honor and glory to his Lord Jesus Christ. He is survived by Audrey, his wife, best friend and loving companion for 38 years, his adored children, Gayle Vaterlaus (Richard), Dawn Tinsley (“Bo”), Gaylen Tinsley (Dena) and Dan Simmons (Diane), 8 grandchildren, Ben, Paul, Drew, Quentin, Jennie, Blake, Brooke and Blair, 6 great grandchildren, Emma, Ariel Grace Noah Jase, and Hero, brother, Tommy sisters, Nadine Jennings and Mattie Bell, and many nieces and nephews. Visitation with the family will be held from 6:00 p.m.-8:00 p.m. on Tuesday, June 29, at Restland Memorial Funeral Home. The service to honor Gayle’s life will be held in the Chapel of Prestonwood Baptist Church, on Wednesday, June 30, at 10:00 a.m., with reception to follow in the Fireside Room of the church.
