George Walker Cearley Jr.'s Obituary
GEORGE WALKER CEARLEY, JR.
On July 28, 2021 we lost our dear friend and family member, George Walker Cearley Jr. George was a rather eccentric and colorful person. He had a brilliant mind and incredible memory and a wealth of knowledge. If anyone wanted to know about a past event that happened in Dallas, he could produce paperwork that documented the event whether a few months ago or 50 to 60 years ago.
George loved airplanes and used to watch them come in at Love Field with his dad when he was young. He had a passion for airlines and wrote books on many of them; primarily Braniff. He was highly regarded by other airline/aviation enthusiasts.
George was a great listener. He truly seemed to care about what others had to say. He loved Pugs and always had a pet Pug throughout his life. He obviously loved the name Spike because most of his dogs were named Spike. Spike 1, Spike 2 Spike 3, etc. When he walked his dog in the neighborhood, he would meet his neighbors. He also often walked to Snider Plaza, a shopping center near his home where he made countless friends at restaurants and the local CVS. These friends have been extremely supportive of George before his illness and during his battle with the illness.
George was preceded in death by his mother, Mary Cearley; his father, George Cearley Sr; and his sister, Jerry Cearley. He is survived by numerous cousins.
We could go on and on about what it was like to know George but, one thing we can all agree on is that it has been a pleasure, a treat, and an honor to have known him.
