George Vomvoris' Obituary
GEORGE JOHN VOMVORIS (76) passed away on November 18, 2016, with his family by his side in Waxahachie, Texas. He was born in Bangor, Maine on April 24, 1940, to John and Anna Vomvoris. He graduated from Husson University in 1962 with a BS degree in Business Administration and a minor in History. He had a long career with the Army and Air Force Exchange Service (AAFES) retiring as Chief of the Services Branch in 1993. He enjoyed coaching soccer, officiating baseball and soccer games at the recreational, high school and professional levels. He was proud of his Greek heritage which he joyfully expressed through his passion for food, music and love of entertainment. He was married for 56 years to his beloved wife Gloria. He is preceded in death by his parents John and Anna Vomvoris and his sister Arite Tomarakos. George is survived by his wife Gloria, his children: John, Melissa, Stephanie, and Matina. His grandchildren: George (Johnny) and Lacey; Kian, William (Kewa), and Ana Nia; Sophia; Damien, Melina and Nickolas; his great grandchildren: Kennlea, Cash and Everly; and brother, William (Bill) Vomvoris. George reveled in his role and title as “The Patriarch” of the family, bestowing his wisdom and antidotes to all that had the pleasure to meet him. He would grace you in song, lesson or story in the most appropriate of times and with great humor. His imprint and legacy will be long lasting in the hearts of many. His greatest joy is his grandkids and knowing he left his footprint in their hearts. A wake will be held on Monday, November 21, 2016 at 7:00pm at Holy Trinity Greek Orthodox Church. The funeral service followed by graveside service will also be held on Tuesday, November 22, 2016 at 11:00am at Holy Trinity Greek Orthodox Church, 13555 Hillcrest Rd, Dallas, TX 75240. Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to Restland Funeral Home and Memorial Park, 13005 Greenville Avenue, at Restland Road, Dallas, TX 75243.
