Georgiann Shults Regelsky's Obituary
Georgiann Shults Regelsky went to be with her Lord on June 1st, 2025. She was born on March 21,1933, in Marion, Ohio to Hugh and Betty Shults, and resided in Indiana Pennsylvania, and Mott, North Dakota.
She attended the University of North Dakota, where she received a Bachelor of Science degree in education. She was a member of the Gamma Phi Beta sorority. Georgia taught four years of physical education in North Dakota upon graduation. One summer while attending a baseball game, she met the love of her life, Dolph John Regelsky. She said, “I’d like to meet the shortstop!” Georgia and Dolph were married, and both continued their teaching careers. They moved to Irving, Texas in 1960 to be near her parents.
She is survived by her two daughters, Leigh Ann Kenyon (Brian) and Tracy Royal (James). She had six grandchildren who all adored her. Blake Kenyon, Brooks Kenyon (Clare), and Brock Kenyon (Tatum); Haley Royal, Janna Moore (Deric) and Macey Royal; and a new great granddaughter, Georgia Moore. We were so blessed to have her as our mother and grandmother; her selfless love, wisdom and support were felt by us all.
One of her greatest joys was teaching. She was a teacher of physical education and health for 31 years. She opened MacArthur High School in 1963, and taught there for 25 years, where in the last 13 years she was the cheerleading sponsor. She loved pouring into the lives of her students and touched the lives of so many. She started a program in the Irving schools bringing awareness of drugs, alcohol and tobacco to younger students. She took MacArthur students to Europe in the summers through the People-to-People program. She was chosen “Teacher of the Year” for MacArthur High School.
Georgia and Dolph enjoyed 37 years of marriage together. She and her daughters would drive to Dallas to attend his Bryan Adams baseball games. They both attended all their girls’ recitals and concerts. After both retired from teaching, they enjoyed spending time together at their lake house, playing golf, and traveling. After Dolph passed away in 1993, she poured her life into her grandchildren. She loved attending every ball game, dance recital, musical, equestrian event, and all 14 high school and college graduations.
Georgia was friends to many through her varied activities. She loved playing bridge and was in several bridge groups around Irving. She loved studying the Bible and the fellowship through Bible Study Fellowship and Common Bond. She served in Lyric Stage, was a member of P.E.O., and the Irving Schools Foundation.
Georgia’s greatest legacy that she passed down to her family and others was her faith and love for her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. She was a member of St. Stephen’s and Woodhaven Presbyterian churches where she poured herself into its members. She left us an example to follow, through serving as an elder, cooking meals for those in need, and teaching Vacation Bible School. Singing in the church choir was her greatest joy. One of her earliest memories was of sitting at the piano as her mother played hymns, and she sang along. She will be greatly missed but we rejoice knowing she is in heaven singing with the saints.
Georgia’s Celebration of Life Service will be held on June 20th at 1:30 pm at Woodhaven Presbyterian Church 3650 North O'Connor Road Irving, TX 75062
