Mrs gerri was a dear friend and will be missed greatly but I can't wait to meet her again I heaven my thoughts and prayers go out to the family

Plano Retired Teachers Association are remembering Dr. Gerry Haggard as a beloved educator, administrator, and lover of reading. Her love of reading led her down the path to help teachers and students become lifelong readers. Early on she realized that having books in the home allowed children to feel comfortable with a book and want to learn more. When she retired from working, her vision didn't stop, she created the PRTA Book Project with a few friends. At first it was small and very little financial help. These books were to go to students who might not have access to books at home to call their own. Then through the years, the Project has blossomed in a non-profit that gives 10,000 books to Title I students who might not have books at home. This was her dream, and we honor her wish to continue. She was the quiet, unassuming lady who knew how to lead you to do the right thing, help when and wherever you can. Gerry, you have definitely earned your angel wings!
My deepest condolences to my sweet friend Sarah and all of her family.
“I am the resurrection and the life. He who believes in Me, though he may die, he shall live.” John 11:25

The memories of Mrs. Haggard are like beautiful sunrises and sunsets. You are thankful for each moment experiencing them!
She has been a beautiful example of what a Christian lady is to me and all who knew her. Her conversation was always elevating and I enjoyed it. I knew that prayer was an integral part of her life.
The power that I observed though came from a life lived out as unto her God! She always placed him first and you knew it!
She loved Mr. Haggard and they shared love for their family ,home , church and town. They shared laughter and the small things together such as laughing over “ HeeHaw” and crazy fishing incidents or mishaps when on vacations that they took me on.
Her world , I observed from third grade on : God, His word, prayer, the church , Mr. Haggard, Colby, Sarah , Mary Clay , then her Sister and brother, her church family specifically at First Baptist in the early days, followed by Prairie Creek after it was formed impacted my world!
As time passed her son in laws who became sons also, and those who followed, Her grandchildren and great grands whom she was so thankful for and proud of were esteemed by her. All of whom loved and respected her back!
She never stopped living life to the fullest. Her reading community, which were both professional and casual continued to be a love of hers. She shared her talents and abilities in music and reading along with the gift of kindness and wisdom which made larger rooms for her and when time came for her to be in a new home , she embraced those she met as friends, her new friends which made that community her own as well! I am sure they already miss her earthly presence!!
She was always giving back and that will not end. Her legacy is strong and thriving! Her children and friends call her blessed and so it is true that we all have much to live up to in following in her footsteps and beyond!
I’m so glad she didn’t suffer long and His angels came after her to take her to her Forever home! I believe that was a fun reunion, with her parents, Mr Haggard, her great grandson Owen and others like my own Mom , and Brother, Pastor Berry and Brother Fineout. There are too many to mention.
She weathered the calms and storms of her life and gracefully, prayerfully, powerfully continued to move forward!
She was my friend , the Mother to my best childhood friend and I will always love her❣️

Geri was our pianist at Solstice Retirement Community for many years at our Sunday Worship Service and the many memorial services we had for residents.
She was a genuine friend who was always asking for prayer for family members and residents. She was always planning something.
We mutually shared a love of old hymns and the history behind the music.
She has left an emptiness in my life but I know she is in he new glorified body with her pure white linen coat playing a huge piano in Heaven with a big smile on her face. She is Home with her Father and Savior for eternity.
Cannot wait to see her again!!
Favorite teacher at Plano ISD. When she talked you better have been listening. Love going to school just so I could be in her class.

She was such a special lady growing up in every way in Plano and my very favorite teacher I ever had. God bless her family moving forward. I know she opened her eyes to Jesus and he gave her a huge welcome.
Thank you for being the best Grandma and Great Grandma a kid could ask for. We miss you!
