Geraldine Langford Haggard's Obituary
Geraldine Langford Haggard, beloved educator, mother, and devoted wife, passed away on November 10, 2025 at the age of 95. She was born in Wellington, Texas, to Frank Langford and Zelma Edmondson Langford on December 12, 1929. She graduated from Wellington High School in 1946.
Geraldine met the love of her life, Roy Haggard, while inviting the community to attend Collegeview Baptist Church. Their shared faith and friendship blossomed into a lifelong partnership, and they were married on June 9, 1949.
A lifelong learner and passionate educator, Geraldine graduated from Texas State College for Women in Denton in 1949 and continued her education with advanced degrees and certifications from Texas Woman’s University, East Texas State University, and Ohio State University. She began teaching at age 19 in Frisco, Texas, and taught in Denton County Schools until 1963. Geraldine then joined Plano Independent School District, where she served in various roles and ultimately retired in 2000 as the District Reading Consultant.
Geraldine’s love for learning extended beyond the classroom. She was a talented pianist, an avid reader, and enjoyed crossword puzzles, Scrabble, and music. She authored numerous children’s books as well as titles on education and grief support, leaving a lasting legacy of knowledge and compassion.
She was a member of Prairie Creek Baptist Church, Plano Retired Teachers Association, Alpha Delta Kappa, Delta Kappa Gamma, Journey of Hope, and the Solstice Retirement Community. Her faith, dedication, and kindness touched countless lives.
Geraldine is preceded in death by her husband, Roy Haggard; father, Frank Langford; mother, Zelma Langford; brother, John Langford; and great grandson, Owen Deao.
She is survived by her son, Colby Haggard and wife, Suphaporn Jeenjanthuk; daughter, Sarah Haggard Eubanks; daughter, Mary Haggard Peterson and husband, Duke Peterson; grandchildren, Sarah Peterson Smith and husband, Dicky Lee Smith; Brian Duke Peterson Jr.; Jessica Eubanks Blevins and husband, Blake Blevins; and Katie Eubanks Deao and husband, Cameron Deao. She is also survived by 4 great grandchildren, Molly Smith, Maggie Smith, Millie Smith, Lily Blevins; and her sister, Peggy Stobart.
Geraldine will be remembered for her unwavering commitment to education, her creative spirit, and her deep love for family and community.
