Gloria Eloise Gates' Obituary
GATES, FLORIA ELOISE, left the bounds of her earthly body in Dallas on October 3, 2012 after a long battle with multiple sclerosis. She was born in Ardmore, OK on August 1, 1941 to Jack and Irene Hamilton. Attended high school and college in Wichita Falls, TX and lived there until she moved to Dallas in 2002. Survived by her son, Marc Gates, of Dallas; brother, Herbert Hamilton, of Houston; and several loving cousins. Eloise was an inspiring example to all who met her for her dignity in the face of trial, optimism in the face of uncertainty and love and care for others no matter what she was enduring. She deeply loved people and all of God’s creation. She had an inner glow of radiance that left an indelible impression of warmth and welcome to all. She loved music in all its forms, loved to play the piano and to share this love through teaching. Her brand of humor brought a different way of seeing a situation, a gift that helped her weather life’s storms when others would have been overwhelmed. Countless witnesses of her grace under adversity came away from her presence changed for the better. Visitation will be 3:00 – 5:00 PM Sunday, October 7th at Restland Funeral Home. Memorial service will be at 3:00 PM, Monday, October 8th at First United Methodist Church, 503 N. Central Expy. in Richardson. In lieu of flowers, memorial gifts may be made to FUMCR Caring Ministry or the Multiple Sclerosis Society.
