Dear Sandra and Paula, I am sorry to hear today about your dad?s death, but I rejoice with you in who he was!!! What a special person who left all of us with an abundance of wonderful memories. I remember his: ?devotion to and love for his Lord ?dedicated service to the Kingdom through his church ?devotion and adoration of your mother, Oline ?love for his girls and his stories about you all as you were growing up ?smile that came so easily to everyone around him ?kindness and goodness to friends, family, church family, coworkers, and neighbors ?athletic ability through sports and sporting events, such as his excellence in skiing (I once asked him how he got so good at skiing and he said, ?Skiing for my life during the War—that will do it for you!? ?and many, many, many other things, but space is too short to record. What a life he lived and was blessed with a long life. He will be greatly missed by all of us. I have so many great memories of his being a loyal deacon and member of various committees during the ten years I was pastor?s secretary at FBC, Richardson—all of them good memories and some hilarious. Gordon had a GOOD sense of humor! I will be remembering you girls in the days ahead. God is good to have given you such a dad for so many years and a wonderful mother, who had a long life and will be missed, also. She was a great complement to your dad. Doris Tinker
Dear Henson Family, Thank you for your thoughts and prayers. Aunt Betty was a hoot and we cherished her and Uncle Hubert. I would like to share your stories. David has my phone number. Please call. Paula Bowers Rogers
My favorite memory? Oh, there are so many. I'll try to keep this short. One of my earliest favorite memories was our first family snow ski trip to Vail. Hold on, I'll get there. Being a farm boy from flatland Farmersville, Texas, he enlisted in the Tenth Mountain Division during WWII and was sent to Italy. He admitted to a little white lie concerning his qualifications on his application concerning his mountain climbing and skiing experience. When finally, at the age of four or five, I was old enough to be allowed on the slopes. He taught me how to fearlessly ski poleless on the bunny slopes. The ski trips continued, and when he was in his 70's and able to get a free ski pass because very few people his age attempted what he loved, I remember being astonished by his grace and agility as I followed him down the slopes. He was always athletic. He ran, played golf, tennis, softball, hunted and was quite the gymnast. When I was in junior high school, he tried to teach me how to do a standing back flip. He stood me on the ground in our back yard, cradled his arm around me and told me to jump up and back. OK, maybe. It worked! Then he stood me on the wall around our patio and told me to jump up and back. Not even maybe. Even with his outstanding patience and instruction, we decided that I should stick to somersaults. I love you, Daddy. You will be cherished always. Paula Bowers Rogers

Sandra and Paula~ My father was at Stoneybrook at the same time your mother was there. We grew to love your parents just like family during our time there. I always admired your father's love for your mother and his dedication of taking care of her each and every day in all circumstances. He always had a smile on his face not only for her, but for all of us going through the same type of experience with our family members. I am saddened to hear of your loss, but know he is so happy to be back with Mrs. Oline. God bless your families during this difficult time. Vickie Taylor
