Gwen Yvonne Rehder's Obituary
Gwen Rehder passed away at the age of 87 at The Monarch Richardson Assisted Living Facility
in Richardson, Texas, on Saturday October 2, 2021.
She was born on November 25, 1933 to Mary Edith Stinson and Willie Lee (Bill) Stinson in
Gainesville, Texas. She grew up in Grand Prairie Texas where she excelled in both scholastics,
twice receiving the National Honor Society award, and also in music performance. After
graduating from Grand Prairie High School in 1949 she attended college at North Texas State
University and later earned a Bachelors degree in music education.
Gwen married Bobby Allen Harris of Irving, Texas on November 17, 1951.They had two children,
Bobette Alleen and Ronald Lynn. While a young mother she taught piano and voice from her
home and always loved to sing and act. She had a wonderful, clear soprano voice and
continued to perform at her church and other venues including the Plano Richardson Elks
Lodge, well into her 80s. For many years she had a small choral group that gave performances
at senior living facilities in the Dallas area.
Gwen worked as an Allstate Insurance agent for many years receiving numerous company
awards and ultimately operating her own Allstate office in Richardson, Texas. She was very
outgoing and engaging and loved working with people.
She was lucky to travel the world scuba diving Australia’s Great Barrier Reef, Truck Lagoon,
Palau and many other exotic dive sites. She visited the Egyptian pyramids, the Swiss alps, the
Amazon and stood on the mountain at Machu Pichu, Peru. She loved her life and her family and
her many friends. We will all miss her.
Gwen was preceded in death by her husband, Alfred Rehder, her brother Bill Stinson and two
grandchildren, Jordan Lee and Erin Renee. She is survived by her daughter Bobette Brasfield
and son in law Larry Brasfield of Galveston, Texas, her son Ronald Harris and daughter in law
Darla Harris of Tom Bean, Texas, grandson Matthew Harris and wife Michelle Harris and two
great grandchildren Hayden and Logan of Dallas, Texas.
