Mrs. Furtado was my 5th grade teacher at GW Caver in West Dallas around 1981.
I was just sitting here at my desk at work, and something she said to me over 30 years ago just HIT me so hard, that I wanted to look her up on the computer, and I find out that God has called another one of his GREAT LEADER home. She will be truly missed by many. Mrs. Furtado was a great teacher, things she would say to US ( yes US) little young black kids growing up in the projects, low income, government housing, she would always tell us. YOU ARE HERE NOW , BUT NEVER GET USE TO IT. GO ALL THE WAY. Here it is 2020 Feb.14,2020 at 10:36pm and I can still hear her voice, I am a Minister, father of 3, husband to 1 , and a graceful student of THE BEST TEACHER EVER.

Jackie’s presence will be sorely missed for she was tops in all of her many roles. Personality was her aura whenever you were in her presence! Her memory will be a testament to just how special she was!
