Hanh Toan Truong's Obituary
Hanh Truong was a New Year's baby, born January 1, 1967 in Da Nang Vietnam. Her early life was spent in wartime. Her father was a doctor and a colonel, who was in charge of a hospital in the South Vietnamese army. With the fall of Saigon, her family fled Vietnam and came to America as refugees. These early days were tough, but her family is extremely talented and resilient and they all went on to be very successful.
Hanh went on to study at S.M.U. and the University of Houston. She graduated from UH with a B.A. in Business and Finance. After college, she went on to work at AT&T as a data analyst for almost 20 years. This is where she met her husband Frank. Frank fell for her right away, and they went on to be married for 25 happy years before her passing.
She is preceded in death by her father Dr. Tich Ngoc Truong and her mother Toan Thi Nguyen.
She is survived by her loving husband, Frank, and his parents Rose and Anselmo, and his siblings Regina and Richard.
She is survived by her brothers and sisters with their respective spouses: Thang and Hang, Katie and Duncan, Duc and Lucy, Thu and Randal, Tam and Beth, Wendy and Minh, Anh and Mai, and Nguyet and Michael. She is also survived by her many nephews, nieces, grand nephews, and grand nieces.
Hanh was an avid gardener and was a member of the Dallas Arboretum for over 30 years. She was active in the North Texas gardening community and was a member of 4 different garden clubs. She had master gardener level knowledge and could name any plant that was pointed out to her. Her garden friends have said that she lit up a room when she entered and they will sorely miss her. Her husband Frank has often remarked that she is the best human being he has ever met.
She was always kind, warm, accepting and full of humor. Her natural ease and generosity drew people to her. She was a human as we were meant to be. If the world was made up solely of people like her, then the world would be a place of peace, love and humor.
