Harold Edward Carlson's Obituary
Harold Edward Carlson, age 96, went home to be with his Lord and Savior December 3, 2009. Funeral services will be held at Family Worship Center in Princeton, Texas, December 9, 2009. He and his wife lived in Iowa around the Des Moines area most of their married lives. They moved to Texas in 1993 and McKinney, Texas in 1997. Born July 29, 1913 in Minneapolis, Minnesota, he is survived by his wife, Genevieve, of nearly 76 years; two daughters, Jeanette James of Arvada, Colorado and Linda Harmon of McKinney, Texas; two sisters, Mary Robb of Minnesota and Rose Ruch of Colorado; 11 grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren; and 6 great-great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his son, Harold (Sonny) Carlson on November 13, 2009; parents, Oscar Carlson and Anna Forsman Johansen; three sisters, Lillian Jensen, Nettie Read, and Margaret Schuder; two grandchildren; one great-grandchild; and one great-great-grandchild. There were many others that claimed him as “grandpa.” He served his church faithfully as a member, attendee, board member, usher, Sunday School bus driver and van driver for seniors. He currently was a member of Family Worship Center in McKinney, Texas. He also delivered Meals on Wheels, and for the local food pantry, for many years in his community. He and his wife made several trips to help at an orphanage near Victoria, Mexico. He was a crossing guard for the McKinney ISD from approximately 2001 – 2006. He graduated from Open Bible College in 1947. Harold owned H. E. Carlson Construction Company until he retired in 1978. All his life he was considered to be “Mr. Fixit.” He could fix anything and would willingly do so for anyone. He had the gift of “Helps.” He would help anyone that asked and needed help. Harold Carlson displayed all of the Fruits of the Spirit as described on Galatians 5:23. He was a man of integrity. His word was his bond. He was highly esteemed by all who knew him, most of all his own family. He was strong, steady, faithful and dependable. We all loved him and will forever cherish our memories of him. He was a wonderful husband, father, grandfather and friend.
