Helen Elizabeth Gillispie Karnes' Obituary
A wonderful wife, mother, and friend, continued into her Heavenly life on May 9, 2015. Born in Kerens, Texas, and raised in Seagoville, she lived her adult life in Dallas, alongside her loving husband Howard W. Karnes, prior to his death in 1995. Helen played professional basketball shortly following her high school days, as well a brief modeling career for Neiman Marcus lines of apparel. She has been best known, though, for her active participation in the lives of family, church and neighborhood/community friends, as a role model, helper, caregiver, and even much needed chauffeur to doctors, grocery stores, games and more. Helen truly loved taking care of others. She lived a faith that manifested itself in service. Helen is survived, remembered, and adored by her children, Kay Laureen Muncaster (husband David) of Florida, Howard Keith Karnes (wife Alice) of Dallas, four grandchildren Terri, Christopher, Kevin, and Kyle, one great-grandson Spencer, as well as numerous extended family members and friends. Memorial service will be at Ridgewood Park United Methodist Church, 6445 E Lovers Ln in Dallas on May 11, 2015 at 10:00am. Memorial gifts may be made to Ridgewood Park UMC. Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to Restland Funeral Home and Memorial Park, 13005 Greenville Avenue, Dallas, TX 75243.
