At this very moment I am enjoying my daily snack of Chai Latte and chocolate Meta wafers smeared with peanut butter. Helen introduced me to my first cup of Chai Latte and to her daily use of the original Meta wafers. Just a few days ago I ate my last serving of "pink stuff" from my freezer. When I make her recipe I keep 1/2 in the refrigerator and freeze the rest in small portions to enjoy later. Holiday time I make Helen's recipe for Cranberry Chutney.
I first met Helen in 1975 when she, Clovis, and Dixie stopped at Western Sizzlin' Steakhouse to eat after visiting Dixie's mother in assisted living. I waited on them which Helen could recall that my son Andy was 11 at that time. I enjoyed so many interesting events with Helen through the years--Lunch Bunch monthly restaurant meals, Dallas Opera, plays, musical performances, and her birthday celebrated at The Adolphus high tea. The travels Helen and Dixie made were enjoyed by me in looking at the picture albums she made and the remembrances gifted to me from them.
A wonderful, very caring person was your Aunt Helen. She is present every day in my lovely memories of her and in things I learned from her.
