My Uncle Hugh Bob could play the banjo!! My Dad loved Hugh and they visited each other till the very end. I enjoyed being there and was warmed by their smiles and jokes. My Dad, Joe Martin passed March 16, 2011. I miss them both very much. No doubt they are playing their guitar and banjo at the hoot nanny in the sky.
I remember in the early 1940 moving to Dallas and living with Aunt Ruth and Hugh Bob lived there also. We kinda grew up together and had lots of fun. He was always a real special cousin and had a wonderful Dad. My prayer is God will hold each of your hands in the days to follow and you will find confort.
I miss my papaw, the stories he told me growing up are special memories to this day. Especially him yelling up the chimney every Christmas eve asking if "Sannty Clause" are you up there. To this day, I can still smell your pipe you smoked and hear you picking your banjo.

Throughout my life I've always remembered my uncle Hugh Bob as that big strapping U.S. Marine when he returned from war. He taught me how to swim by throwing me into the deep end of a city swimming pool. I loved him.
