I am an international student from Indonesia and had the honor of serving Dr. Baker as a Teaching Assistant from 2002-2004. Dr. Baker was not only one of the smartest and visionary person I had ever met but more than that, he was humble, kind-hearted and TRULY a MAN of GOD.
You will forever be missed, Dr. B!

Dr. Baker was leaving Exxon in 1979 at the time I joined the company after college graduation. Later in my career I met many graduates of his Telecommunications program at SMU and I finally got the chance to take the program myself. His lectures were delivered with a spirit of humanity and interest in the student which are sometimes unusual among college professors. I remember he told us once his family had always named their cars and one in particular was "Cottontail," presumably because it took off from a stop like a rabbit. In the first class of the semester he would humbly mention his incredible list of experience and then say, "If you've been paying attention, you realize that makes me 110 years old..." He seemed ageless to me.
Dr. Baker was a very important influence on my own career as it draws to a close. My thanks to his family for sharing him with us all those years. May God continue to bless you richly.

Mr. Baker had a heart larger then life. He was like a dad at times to many who may not have had fathers. I was blessed to go on so many trips with the family. He would always laugh at us as we made up dances in the living room. He was larger than life and will be missed by many. Sending my love and prayers to the family. My thoughts are with you.
