Ila Mae Cavazos' Obituary
Born to Walter and Hilda Rinn in Industry, Texas, in 1922, peacefully departed this life on October 18, 2014. She had been wonderfully married 63 years to Arnaldo N. Cavazos, Sr. until his death in 2009. She will be greatly missed by her son Arnie Cavazos and his wife Rosie Cavazos; and her daughter Deborah Safi and her husband Hazim Safi; as well as her 5 grandchildren and 7 great-grandchildren. Ila Mae graduated in 1942 from Texas Women’s University in Denton, Texas, and did a year of post-graduate work in dietetics in Brooklyn, New York. She served as a dietician to D.I.S.D. from 1952 until retiring in 1979 as head of Personnel/Food Services. She greatly enjoyed and cared for her dietician friends and colleagues with whom she met with regularly over the years, as well as her friends at Three Fountains on Melody Lane; and Wilshire Baptist Church; and Lake Highland Baptist Church. She and her husband resided in Old Lake Highlands from 1956 to 2005, and she enjoyed many wonderful neighbors there over the years. In her last hours she wanted to thank and express her love for her kind and compassionate caregivers, Grace Anyike, Florence Fortibui, and Onyedika Uzoma, who attended to all her needs during her last 3 months, as well as to her personal physician, Dr. Amy Anderson, M.D. who provided sweet care and was available around the clock. A celebration of Ila Mae’s life will be held at Wilshire Baptist Church on Abrams Road at 10:30 am on Saturday, October 25, 2014, where “her children will rise up and bless her and her husband also”. Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to Restland Funeral Home and Memorial Park, 13005 Greenville Avenue, at Restland Road, Dallas, TX 75238.
