Irene was my sister-in-law. She and Joe were married in 1952. When we had family gatherings, she was always the life of the party. She was always lots of fun and made us all laugh. I have many good memories of my relationship with Irene. God bless you Joey for taking such good care of your Mother.. I won't be able to attend the service, but know you all in my prayers. Irene was one of my mother's dearest friends and has known me since the day I was born! I remember numerous times, walking into our home after school and Irene was there! The stories she shared made me laugh until I cried! My favorite stories include when there was a mouse in her house, which she called a RAT! I remember when Joe was working on her sink and Irene put water in the sink that came out the bottom! She caught the drained water and put it right back into the sink again!!! I also remember her freezer being filled with fish that Joe caught! Irene was an AMAZING cook!! She cracked me up when she told of her favorite 3 Stooges episodes! Oh, how they made her laugh!! I also remember there was confusion as to when her birthday was!! So, I think she celebrated her special day twice a year,! Irene had a heart the size of Texas! I know my mother, my dad and Irene are catching up on good times shared! I'm happy that she is reunited with her husband, Joe, too!! She has earned her heavenly reward!!! Thank you, Irene for the laughter, love and memories!!!

What can be said about Irene? Well for starters she was such an amazing person to our family and so loved by each and every one of us. She is a true and cherished friend to all who she met and her laugh will always be remembered. I will never forget when Sarah and I got off the plane when we were 10 to hear her yelling "babies" at the top of her lungs in the Dallas airport. We had such a great week with her and Joey in Dallas going to the Hard Rock Cafe and riding the trolly and hearing all about her childhood. Her story about the rat will live on forever and her scream when she thought every string sticking from a wall, couch ect was a rat tail. She would yell, ?Oh it?s a rat!? with her thick Texan accent and then humbly say, ?Oh I guess I am just rat minded? when she found out it was not a real rat tail. I love you Irene, you are one in a million.
My heart is sad that such a wonderful woman has moved on but I am so fortunate to have known her. I will never forget her smile, those doe eyes and especially her laugh. She could laugh louder than anyone I know. I love how much she loved us and though we live far away, every time we would travel to Texas and see her, it was as if no time had passed. She loved us and never forgot to tell us so. As I write this, I'm smiling at the thought of how scared she was of rats, how easily her eyes would tear up when she told a joke, and how every time she saw us, we were greeted by an enthusiastic "baaaaaby". She will live on in my heart and she will be there every time I laugh just so she can join in. I love you Irene and will miss you terribly. Love, Sarah P.s. My Aunt Irene was a unique and gifted person. Her ability to make people laugh, her animated stories that have no comparison, and her warm and welcoming nature will remain some of my fondest memories. I find myself with a smile on my face as I write this. She was blessed to have a wonderful husband, who left us far too soon, and a wonderful, loving son who cared for her unselfishly throughout her life. I can only think that she and my Mom and Aunt Minnie are having a high old time together again! Fran Weir Prescott, AZ
God broke the mold when he made Irene. She will always be known for keeping everybody laughing with her stories and being the life of the party. She was a fabulous cook and homemaker. Her chocolate pies and fudge were to die for and nobody ever turned down her invitations to dinner. Irene was extremely devoted to her son Joey and he was the most important person in her life. She had many many longtime friends and really, nobody who ever met Irene would ever forget her. She will be truly missed.
