Dad, Thanks for all the sacrifices you made for us. We were raised in a 3 bedroom, 1 bath house in Hopkins, Mn. You reminded us of forgoing your morning bathroom privileges by shaving at the Standard Oil station. When we learned the consequences of breaking a city ordinance, you took refuge in the house after lighting fire crackers off the end of your cigar in the backyard leaving us to face the policeman. Sheltered us from "the facts of life" during a sex ed recording by jumping off the couch and shouting, "Uh oh. Here comes the part about the little boys!" and ran into the closet. Distracted, we remained mystified for years. Most of all, Dad, thank you for always being there for us girls. Love you forever, Mar Mar the Big Bear

I don't know anyone who doesn't love my dad.
1500 miles from home, Jack and Pat have been my "bonus parents." We used to go to mass together on Sundays. They have taken me to the hospital, brought me home, and taken care of me. Jack shoveled my walk when my husband was away during an ice storm. He played with my puppy when he was a baby, helped comfort me when my own Daddy got sick, and saluted me when I was promoted. He was a real blessing from God in my life, and I already miss him more than I can express. Rest in peace, Dad. I love you.
