Aunt Jackie lived a full and rich life and I got to enjoy many of her tales when I would visit with her and Uncle George and later in her life after Uncle George had passed away. One of my best memories was celebrating her birthday at the Chocolate Angel with Aunt Enid, Aunt Bunny, Katie, my mom, Betsy, and Aunt Jackie and her caregivers. I think it was Aunt Jackie’s 90th birthday and I got to adding together the ages of the people at the table; it was well over 500 years! Living well in your 90’s is nothing to this family.
Even while having to mobilize in a wheelchair, she was always cheerful and willing to go on an adventure; she was a trooper. We’d have visits to her doctors together, go shoe shopping, enjoy the scenery at the Dallas Arboretum, eat ice cream at Braums, and enjoy lunch or supper at The String Bean and Chocolate Angel, her favorites.
She was a joy to be with and I’m hoping Uncle George has the boat ready; they need to see the sunset together once again.
You’ll be missed by all of us in Austin: your sister’s family: Betsy and Joe Zern and their children and grands: Mark and Juanita, daugher, Meghan, Karen and Mark Flanagan and sons: Aaron, Todd, and Will, and David and Nikki Zern and kids: Max, Samantha (Sam), Ben, and Charlotte (Charli).
