James Ernest Alexander's Obituary
James Ernest Alexander of Dallas, TX passed away April 20, 2021 at the age of 91. James was born on January 12, 1930 in Dallas, TX to James and Leona (née Feemster) Alexander. He was preceded in death by his wife Joyce (née Parks), son Rusty, and siblings Robbie and Marionetta. He is survived by his son Randy (Luci) of Austin, TX; sisters Wanda (Richard) of Brownwood, TX and Florence of Paris, TX; granddaughters Kristen (Neil) of New York, NY, Lauren (Lucas) of Pittsburgh, PA, Kathryn (Norman) of Washington, DC, and Emily (Cory) of Forney, TX; great grandchildren Aiden James Patel and Arlo Alexander Patel of New York, NY, and Corbin James Emery and Ellie Joyce Emery of Forney, TX; and many beloved nieces and nephews.
James began his career working in the warehouse of a wholesale Ford auto parts business, where worked his way up to salesman and then to general manager and part owner by the time he retired at the age of 52. He was a frequent speaker at dealer meetings and was known for the great rapport he developed with his customers throughout Texas. James continued his hobby of fixing up old cars for many years, and also built countless projects at home alongside Joyce throughout their 59 years of marriage. In retirement they found community in the Dallas Athletic Club, where James was a member for more than 40 years and made lifelong friends—first as an avid golfer, and then in his later years playing cards and drinking his morning coffee. He was known for his funny, dry sense of humor. Most of all James was a family man: a loving husband, father, and papa/poppy, whose face lit up at just the mention of his great grandchildren. He was proud of all he had accomplished, but most proud of the legacy he leaves behind. He will be greatly missed by his family, especially during their Christmas traditions that have continued for more than 70 years.
Visitation will be Tuesday, May 11, 2021 from 4:00 to 6:00 PM at Restland Funeral Home. Funeral Service will be Wednesday, May 12, 2021 at 2:30 PM in the Memorial Chapel at Restland Funeral Home.
