I just saw this obituary. I had tried calling Jim over the past couple of years (I called him every four to six months) and now I see the sad news. He was a great next-door neighbor to me and my kids. Very sad to see this obit.

I just saw this obituary. I had tried calling Jim over the past couple of years (I called him every four to six months) and now I see the sad news. He was a great next-door neighbor to me and my kids. Very sad to see this obit.

I am a first cousin to Jim Barron. My name is Judy Combs Bell and I live in Mission Viejo CA. Jim’s mother, Grace, was a sister of my mother, Doris Ann McKown Combs of Tulsa Okla. I grew up with Jim, his sister, Esther and Douglas. They lived in Tulsa and also Oklahoma City. Esther and I were near the same age and she died at a young age with cancer many years ago leaving her daughter, Diana.
I sent Jim a Christmas card which was returned to me today, Jan 5th. I researched his name and found his obituary. I am so sorry he has passed. Another first cousin of ours died this year also. It was Dan Kramer who was the son of another McKown sister, Edith Lucy McKown Kramer. Dan died with cancer. The only cousins left are me and my sister, Melanie Combs Evans of Tulsa. Lori Brown LaFerry died at least 25 years ago in Muskogee OK. She was the daughter of Marceline McKown Brown (the 4th McKown sister.)
If you read this would you please let me know what caused Jim’s death. I would like to let my sister know about his passing. He was a sweet man. Blessings to your family.

Jim was a faithful member at Keystone Church of Mesquite. He was a friend to all and was very active in serving others at out church. For several years up until he became sick, Jim would be the first to arrive every Sunday morning. He would open up the building, prepare coffee for the morning classes, and fold Sunday bulletins. Jim was also faithful to prepare the Communion elements the day before each Communion was served. If there was a task that needed doing, Jim was often involved in getting it done. There is a lovely cabinet for our water dispenser that he creatively designed and built. He set up the utility closet at the church with meticulous detail. Our church has missed him already during these recent months of illness, but we rejoice in knowing his future in Heaven with our Lord.
