James Wilbert Bauer's Obituary
James Wilbert “Jim” Bauer 81 of Pace Florida passed away on December 23, 2016, surrounded by his loved ones. Jim was born in Aurora, Il on July 14, 1935. He moved to Dallas, TX in 1943 and later resided in Irving, TX and Midlothian, TX before making Pace, FL his final home. He retired from the United States Postal Service where he worked at the Dallas Bulk Mail Center dispatch. He was a life member of the Knights of Columbus and served in the United States Marine Reserve. Jim graduated in 1953 from Jesuit High School of Dallas and then attended St. Mary’s College in San Antonio, TX before marrying the love of his life Diane in July 1956. Jim is survived by his beloved and devoted wife of 60 years Diane Wilson Bauer, his six loving children Cindy (Jerry) Douglas, Vickie Lisk (Bob MacDougal), James E. Bauer, Kathleen Wallace, Stephen (Sherry) Bauer, Robert (Connie) Bauer, 17 grandchildren, 23 greatgrandchildren and one great greatgrandchild. One brother Gene (Susan) Bauer. One brother in law John (Kristi) Wilson, three sisters in law Sara (Lynn) Alford, Janet (Gary) Herron, and Jeri (Randy) Shelton along with numerous nieces, nephews and cousins. He is preceded in death by his parents Wilbert J. and Gertrude M. Bauer, one sister Evelyn Stearns, one grandson Vernon W. H. Bauer and one great grandson Hunter A. Douglas. He will be deeply missed by everyone whose lives he touched. Donations may be made to the American Cancer Society in Jim’s honor. Service will be held on Friday, January 6, 2017 at 11 AM in the Memorial Chapel at Restland Funeral Home with visitation held one hour prior to the service.
