James W. "Jim" Dowling's Obituary
James “Jim” W. Dowling, of Richardson Texas, passed unexpectedly Tuesday morning July 14 while at work. Jim, age 72, was a long time resident of the Dallas Fort Worth area. Jim was a prominent business man, a Certified Public Accountant, Certified Financial Planner, and Personal Financial Specialist working at Weaver LLP for just under 47 years where he was a senior manager. He graduated from St Ambrose College in Iowa and went on to obtain his MBA at the University of Arkansas. Jim held numerous certifications in finance and accounting and recently received his certification as a Chartered Global Management Accountant. Jim loved people and that is why he loved accounting, a profession where you could meet people from all walks of life and truly interact with them in a meaningful way. Whether it be helping a client with budgeting or saving for a life event, Jim wanted to make their lives better. This was the key to his ability to always increase his client base. It was never about the numbers, it was about the people. His friends were his clients and his clients were his friends. Jim was a loving father and grandfather and a devoted public servant who volunteered his time in a number of community organizations including the North Dallas Chamber of Commerce, Myerson Symphony Center, Kiwanis, and his Catholic church. Jim is survived by his son Joseph (Linda), daughter Julie (Jonathan Inda), granddaughter Sofia, his siblings, and many nieces and nephews. Visitation will be Friday July 17 from 5pm to 8pm at the Abbey Chapel at Restland Funeral Home in Dallas. The funeral service will be held at 2:30 pm on Saturday July 18 at All Saints Catholic Church, 5231 Meadowcreek Dr., Dallas. Internment to follow.
